On Friday, February 19, 2010, Antioch College’s Morgan Fellows will host the third in a series of symposia focusing on issues in higher education and society. The topic of this event will be Restorative Justice. It will take place in the Herndon Gallery in South Hall at Antioch College, One Morgan Place, Yellow Springs, Ohio, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

A day-long training workshop will take place for all who are interested the following day, Saturday, February 20. It is open to those interested in training in the area. Space is limited to 40 participants, and there is a $40 fee that includes lunch. For additional information on the training, contact Beverly Rodgers, Morgan Fellow at brodgers@antiochcollege.org.

Joseph Lowndes ’90 is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Oregon. His research interests include American political development, discourse analysis, ideology, institutions, and political identity. He teaches courses on US politics and government, racial politics, political culture, and the the presidency. His most recent book, From the New Deal to the New Right, has been called a “valuable contribution to the study of contemporary conservatism” by Publishers Weekly.

Lowndes, a former Community Manager, lives in Eugene with his partner, Priscilla Yamin; and two children, Benjamin and Adam.

It’s great to be back in Antiochiana as your College Archivist. Now that Antioch College is back, donations have begun to flow into the archives once again now that independence has been achieved. Starting with the Alumni Reunion in October, several interesting gifts have been given to Antiochiana, including:

• A felt Antioch banner with gold lettering on a dark blue field, circa 1930, was the gift of Matthew Derr, class of 1989. The large block type makes it reminiscent of the kind of thing used to cheer on a football team, something Antioch College hasn’t had since 1928.
