Rally against damage and neglect at Antioch College’s historic Main Building

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Yellow Springs residents to rally against severe water damage and neglect at Antioch Colleges historic Main Building – Flooding discovered Saturday threatens conditions of shuttered pre-Civil War campus buildings Yellow Springs, Ohio, February 9, 2009 — Yellow Springs residents will gather at a press rally at 12:00pm, Monday, February 9, 2009, outside of the Main Building at the Antioch College campus, 795 Livermore Street, in Yellow Springs, to respond to heavy flooding that was discovered in the historic building Saturday. The campus building, with its recognizable towers, was built from 1852 to 1853 and was considered to be the hub of campus activity when Antioch College was open. Main Building has been shuttered since Antioch University officials closed Antioch College in June of 2008, despite national organizing and protests among various groups, including Antioch College alumni, faculty and staff and residents of Yellow Springs.
