Robert H. Graves, 82, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at his home in Naples,
FL. Robert, a friend of Antioch College, was born in Evansville, WI, Nov. 13,
1926, and was the son of the late Forrest and Helen (Skarning) Graves. Robert
graduated from Evansville High School in 1944 and then served in the United
States Navy as a Radioman on submarines until his Honorable Discharge in 1947.
Robert went on to receive a BBA in Business, with a major in Accounting from
the University of Wisconsin in 1953.

Phyllis
Hollingsworth, Antioch College graduate of the class of 1956, died Aug. 23,
2009, in Kirkland, WA. She was born on September 19, 1934 in Perth Amboy, NJ,
the daughter of Joseph and Anne Bagdi. After
receiving her MD degree from New Jersey College of Medicine, she interned at
St. Vincent’s Hospital in NYC and completed her Anesthesiology Residency at New
York Hospital, followed by a Fellowship at Virginia Mason, Seattle.

Harry Morin Donovan ’75 lost his courageous fight with throat
cancer Wednesday, 23 September, 2009. Born 3 July 1943 in Bath, Maine
where he spent his boyhood summers acquiring his life long love of all
things sailing. Harry graduated from Antioch College in Ohio with
degrees in engineering and theater which eventually led to all things
rock ‘n roll.

Few couples lived life so passionately as Antioch College
graduates Shirley R. Johnson ’40 and her husband Douglas R. Johnson ’40.
Their romance — and commitment to social ideals — lasted more than
seven decades until Douglas Johnson died Friday, July 24, 2009, at the
age of 92.
He hit his head in a fall after a shopping trip, and doctors at
MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland were unable to save him after
he was flown to the trauma center.
One by one, friends Monday mourned the loss of Douglas Johnson —
half of the power couple who lived life simply and spartanly, yet
changed so many lives along the way.

Mary F. Stowe, Antioch College Class of 1948. She held a BA in Sociology/Psychology from Antioch.
Mary
was born on 8/16/25 in Pekin, IL, and died on 11/26/09 in Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alice Kaliff Stowe,
and her brother, Jack Stowe. Survivors in York, Nebraska, include
cousins, Charles Kaliff, Jim Kaliff and Shirley Holt, all of York, and
Bill Kaliff of Grand Island. Mary is also survived by numerous other
cousins.
