During the first weekend in March, the Alumni Board will performing one
of our most time-honored functions – choosing recipients for Alumni
Association awards to be presented at Reunion in June 2011 (winners for
2010 have been selected and will be announced at a later date). We are

–Christian Feuerstein ‘94
Chapters around the country have met over the past few
weeks, to celebrate Antioch College’s independence and to help plan for its
future.
In Boston, over thirty-five alumni met in November to have a
brainstorming meeting. Interim President Matthew Derr ’89 was there, along with Morgan Fellows Scott Warren
and Anne Bohlen. Presentations and discussions were focused on curriculum, the
liberal arts, co-op, and, of course, fundraising.

–Christian Feuerstein ’94
Robert
Kehlmann ’63 was
among the first art critics to discuss and evaluate contemporary glass art
using a vocabulary of art criticism. He was a founding editor of the Glass Art
Society Journal and he has lectured worldwide on glass art, curated numerous
exhibitions, and taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts, the
Piclhuck School, and the Miasa Bunka Center, Japan. In 1994, Kehlmann was
awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Glass Art Society. He is the
author of two books, Twentieth Century Stained Glass: A New Definition, and The
Inner Light: Sculpture by Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova. He has
written articles for numerous publications both in the United States and
abroad.
Kehlmann
has served on the City of Berkeley’s Landmarks Preservation Commission
(1995-2001), and was its Chairman from 1996-1998. He is a founding member of
the Berkeley Historical Plaque Project.

–Julian Sharp ’08, Manager of Volunteer Work
The Antioch College campus is abuzz with volunteers! Last week a team
of volunteers worked in South Hall to strengthen the structural
integrity of the building’s roof. The team was led by Jon Baker ’72 of
Chicago and David Scott ’72 of Yellow Springs, and also included John
Hempfling, Eva Erickson ’11 and Lincoln Alpern ’11, all of Yellow
Springs. The hard work of this group enabled us to accomplish a
project that otherwise would not have been feasible or would have cost
the College thousands of dollars.

Lee
S. Waterman, age 78 of Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell, ME, died
Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Hill House in Bath. He was born in
Harpswell, ME, on February 11, 1930, a son of Maurice O. and Esther
Lois Morrill Waterman.
