A group of alumni are putting together a virtual reunion website, where we hope to post a variety of community generated media during the reunion event.

The website will be at:

To get an idea of what we are planning, check out the concept document at:

Consider it a working document — any ideas, and notes I get, are being put there for teams of people to stay in sync.  I’m trying to keep the planning for the project moderated, yet as transparent as is reasonable.

We’re in up to our necks, and we need your help!

We need volunteers.  Rolling this out is a ton of work.  We need help with getting the web back-end in shape, organizing people, coming up with and implementing ideas, putting media on the web, setting up equipment, testing, figuring out what else we need to do, collecting media from people etc.

We also need you to contribute your media!  If you will be at reunion please let us know if you will be:

1. Taking pictures

2. Writing

3. Recording audio

4. Shooting video

And if you will be doing it “casually”, or are in a more “journalist” mode.  If we have enough people, and they are up for it, then we may ask people to cover specific happenings.

We may have equipment to borrow.

AAUP officially sanctions Antioch University

“… the delegates voted to sanction Antioch University (OH). Institutions are sanctioned for infringement of governance standards after an AAUP investigation has revealed serious departures from generally accepted standards of college and university government endorsed by the AAUP.”

College gets stimulus funds

Antioch College was one of 13 Ohio institutions of higher education to receive federal stimulus funds to upgrade facilities to be more energy efficient, according to a June 10 press release.

“These projects reinforce Ohio’s commitment to energy efficiency,” according to Governor Ted Strickland in the release. “The awards announced today strengthen all sectors of Ohio’s economy to create jobs and lay a foundation for Ohio to lead the nation in the efficient use of electricity. We appreciate President Obama, and the members of Ohio’s Congressional delegation who supported the Recovery Act, for their commitment to job creation in the growing energy industry.”

The college received $289,887 to retrofit the Glen Helen Ecology Institute building and to install a ground-source, 29-ton heat pump.

Other stimulus fund recipients were Bowling Green State University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Hocking Technical College, Lourdes College, Oberlin College, Ohio University, Ohio Wesleyan, Stark State College of Technology, Wittenberg University and Ursuline College.

The Ohio Department of Transportation also received $1,662,500 in stimulus funds for the installation of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies at a variety of rest areas on interstate highways. Altogether, the state received $25 million through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.
