Last Call for Nominations to the Alumni Board

Please note that the window to nominate candidates for the 2012 Antioch College Alumni Board election closes September 9, 2011. The Alumni Board will meet in Yellow Springs during the fourth weekend in October to adopt a slate for an election to fill board seats in 2012.

Please send the name of anyone who is interested in running for the Board, as well as any background and supporting information, to College Researcher Fred Kraus.

All nominations will be reviewed and vetted by the Nominating Committee of the Alumni Board during its October meeting. The resulting potential candidates will then be contacted to determine their availability.

The Nominating Committee considers past involvement and support of Antioch College, and aims to achieve a range of skill sets, geographic balance, representative class years, and a diversity in all aspects of membership. The election will be conducted in Spring 2011. The three-year elected term calls for participation–at the member’s own expense–in three Alumni Board meetings each year in Yellow Springs. The elected term begins in October 2012.

The most successful Board members have been high-energy individuals possessed with a passion for the ideals and the future of Antioch College while remaining flexible, eager to work, and willing to work with others. Board members are considered to be ambassadors for Antioch College.

Brian Springer’s The Disappointment: Or, The Force of Credulity 3/17

Brian Springer, a friend of Antioch and Nonstop, cocreator of The Antioch Papers and partner of Antioch and Nonstop media arts professor Chris Hill, screens his documentary The Disappointment: Or, The Force of Credulity, about his search for buried treasure on his family’s Missouri farm, including 16th century Spanish gold, Civil War silver, and the diary of anarchist Kate Austin. Springer and Hill will both be there.

Gene Siskel Film Center

“Springer interweaves the stories surrounding these treasures with those of his family to spin a tale of spirit possession, Napalm, Indian massacres, early American opera, fanatical obsessions, 200 tons of dirt, and the way mothers try to protect their families from wounds that never heal.”
