Education activist Lauretta S. Dankers, 92, Antioch College Class of
1938, advocate for better schools and education programs in Virginia,
died October 25, 2008, in Prince Georges Hospital of Congestive Heart
Disease. In the 1960s Mrs. Dankers was a member of the Arlington
Virginia Citizens Committee for School Improvement and the only woman
on a twelve member sub committee to begin plans for a high school
technical center. She urged the development and application of
Distributive Education and campaigned for liberal local issues.
