Two months ago the boards of Antioch University and the Antioch College Continuation Corporation unanimously approved an “asset purchase agreement” that will allow the creation of an independent Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Included in this agreement is the transfer of the historic college campus and its endowment. While the August 31, 2009, deadline included in the asset purchase agreement will pass without a closing and transfer of assets; both parties remain confident that their work will be completed very soon. The deadline was selected by the boards, but with a provision that more time could be allotted to accommodate required reviews and approvals from external agencies. Antioch University and the Antioch College Continuation Corporation continue working together toward the transfer, and anticipate jointly making a public announcement regarding a closing date when these external agencies have completed their work.

Mike Gronstal ’74 Works for Change and for Antioch College

Iowa State Senator Mike Gronstalhas been the State Senate Democratic
Leader since 1997. First elected to office in 1982, Gronstal served one
term in the Iowa House (1983-85), and is currently in his sixth term in
the Senate. He serves as the chairperson of the Senate Rules and
Administration Committee.
On memories of Antioch College:
There used to be a doughnut shop that opened about 4:00 AM And there
was the old teletype in the student union during Nixon’s last days
before he resigned and we’d all gather around and read the teletype as
it printed off the stories about the Saturday night massacre as Nixon
fired administration officials…The cooperative education program
[brought him to Antioch College].

Ruthe Sicherman, an honorary life member of the Buffalo branch of the American Association of University Women, died Sunday in Beechwood Nursing Home, Getzville, after a brief illness. She was 93.
