This weekend is Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. This week’s alumni interview is with Rabbi Doug Kohn ’81. Rabbi Kohn graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH, in 1981, and received his Masters Degree in Hebrew Letters from the Hebrew Union College (Los Angeles) in 1985.  Rabbi Kohn was ordained at the Hebrew Union College (Cincinnati) in 1987.  He has published numerous articles in the press and in Jewish periodicals, and in his academic interest, American Jewish archives and history, and is “foreign correspondent” for the San Bernardino Sun, as he has written several feature series from his frequent travels to Israel and Europe.

Obituary: Norman Colthup ’49

Norman B. Colthup, 84, of Stamford, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009.  He was
born in Paris, France on July 6, 1924 to an American mother and an
English father.  He immigrated to the United States in 1929 and
eventually became an American citizen.  Graduating from New Canaan High
School and Antioch College in Ohio, Norman began his scientific career
as a scientific assistant in the infrared group at American Cyanamid.
