Obituary: Catherine Emily Nyquist Fuller ‘51 and Marvin A. Fuller ‘50

Catherine Emily Nyquist Fuller, 80, Antioch College
Class of 1951, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her home
in Benton Harbor. Known by friends as Kate Fuller, she fought a short
but complex battle with kidney disease.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life was held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Marvin A. Fuller, 82, Antioch College Class of 1950,
died peacefully at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph on April 27, 2009.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on June 27, at Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4340 Lincoln Ave., St. Joseph.

Morgan Fellows to Host Inaugural Symposium

Topic is “The Daily Struggle of Immigrant Workers,” to be held November 14th from 2 to 4:00 p.m. in Yellow Springs. The inaugural group of Antioch College Morgan Fellows announced today that they would be hosting the first in a series of symposia, to be held during the course of the 2009/10 academic year. The first symposium, “The Daily Struggle of Immigrant Workers,” will take place in The Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom, One Morgan Place, Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Beverly Rodgers (anthropology) and Jean Gregorek (literature) are two of the five Morgan Fellows who have been tasked with building the curriculum for the college to reopen in 2011 and oversee faculty hiring. (Both Beverly and Jean taught at Antioch College and the Nonstop Institute.)

They’re coming to Chicago to discuss their plans, and to find out what you think, asking big questions about the value and relevance of liberal arts in the 21st Century. Antioch has a unique opportunity to apply its historic mission to today’s social needs. They are genuinely seeking alumni input into this process. This is your chance to be heard and offer your contribution to the future of the college.
