OBERLIN — Few couples lived life so passionately as Shirley R. Johnson and her husband Douglas R. Johnson.
Their romance — and commitment to social ideals — lasted more than seven decades until Douglas Johnson died Friday at the age of 92.

Dr. John McLain Rinehart, composer, concert pianist and professor, died peacefully at age 72 surrounded by family and loved ones on Tuesday, August 4th in Atlanta, GA. He will be remembered by family and those close to him for his dry wit, huge smile and enormous appetite for living life to its fullest, but most importantly to him he will be forever remembered for his legacy as a truly gifted composer of modern classical works ranging from the piano to symphony orchestra, and as a gloriously talented and electric classical concert pianist.

With the news of Independence still ringing in the ears of Antiochians
nationwide, it’s no surprise that there is eager interest in the 2009
Reunion and the pre-Reunion Work Project. For a week before the
Reunion officially begins on October 4, Alumni from many generations
will descend on campus and engage in a variety of work projects to help
restore the campus and prepare for reunion.
