David Irish Sullivan embraced the anti-war and civil rights movements
as a high school student in the 1960s and continued to find causes
worth fighting for throughout his life.
A steelworker and union steward until the local steel industry tanked
in the early 1980s, Mr. Sullivan shifted to construction and built
affordable and eco-friendly housing in Chicago’s South Chicago
neighborhood, where he lived.
