Norman B. Colthup, 84, of Stamford, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009. He was
born in Paris, France on July 6, 1924 to an American mother and an
English father. He immigrated to the United States in 1929 and
eventually became an American citizen. Graduating from New Canaan High
School and Antioch College in Ohio, Norman began his scientific career
as a scientific assistant in the infrared group at American Cyanamid.

Obituary: David Sullivan ’74

David Irish Sullivan embraced the anti-war and civil rights movements
as a high school student in the 1960s and continued to find causes
worth fighting for throughout his life.
A steelworker and union steward until the local steel industry tanked
in the early 1980s, Mr. Sullivan shifted to construction and built
affordable and eco-friendly housing in Chicago’s South Chicago
neighborhood, where he lived.

Louis Paul, a former 20-year resident of Pacific Palisades, died peacefully in
his family’s company at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly
Hills, CA, on August
19. He was 90 years old.

in Cleveland, Ohio
to Jacob and Gertrude Paul, Louis was raised in Lakewood, Ohio
where he graduated from high school in 1937. After graduating from Antioch College
in 1942, he earned a medical degree from Western Reserve Medical
School.
